1. Always check the care label first
The care label should take priority over general advice. If it specifies a washing temperature, hand washing, a particular drying method or restrictions on ironing, follow those instructions. Two scarves that look similar can still have different care needs.
2. Wash gently
When the care label allows it, a gentle wash can reduce unnecessary friction and stretching. Separate light and dark colours as you would with other clothing, and avoid overloading the wash so scarves are not tightly twisted around heavier garments.
